Eight Steps Toward Enthusiastic Teaching 

1.      Pray .... Ask God to help you and guide you. Pray for your students by name. Pray often and long.

2.      Study .... Study the Bible lesson. Study related written materials. Research your lessons. Learn to love the Bible and its message. Imagine yourself in the situations you are studying. Pray.

3.      Prepare .... Make a lesson plan for every lesson. Make and organize all the visuals, supplies and equipment needed for the lesson. Set up your teaching space with visuals, supplies, etc. Pray.

4.      Teach your lesson. Be expressive. Become a good storyteller. Make the students “see” God, His love and His promises. Make the Bible characters live! Tell it as if it happened yesterday and you were an eye-witness!

5.      Pray with the class.

6.      Make lesson applications that are relative to the students. Help them put the lesson into their own life situation.

7.      Evaluate .... Spend some time reflecting on your presentation and the effectiveness of your lesson. Pray. Give thanks for God’s help and support and ask for His guidance for your next lesson.

8.      Love each child in your class .... Love should be the motivating force behind every teacher. When we love our students we will be better teachers of God’s word, because God is love. Pray for your students often.

Remember, if the student fails to learn, you have failed to teach.
